Wound Care & Hyperbaric Nurse (RN)

Facility: MVS Woundcare & Hyperbarics
Reports To: Nurse Manager
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift | No weekends | No nights | No on-call
Travel Requirement: Must be able and willing to travel between clinic locations

Position Summary

The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Nurse (RN) is a specialized clinical role responsible for delivering comprehensive wound management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) services in an outpatient setting. This position integrates advanced wound care, hyperbaric treatment delivery, patient education, and interdisciplinary coordination to support healing, ensure patient safety, and maintain regulatory compliance.

This role supports a multi-site clinical program and requires flexibility to provide coverage across locations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Wound Management

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments, reassessments, measurements, and documentation
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans
  • Deliver evidence-based wound treatments, therapies, and dressing applications
  • Obtain and document vital signs at each visit
  • Perform wound photography per protocol
  • Apply compression therapies and advanced wound modalities
  • Support total contact casting, padding, and safe cast removal when applicable
  • Assess and manage pain related to wound conditions and procedures

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

  • Safely administer and monitor hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Perform pre-treatment assessments, safety screenings, and contraindication reviews
  • Operate and monitor monoplace hyperbaric chambers in accordance with protocols and safety standards
  • Continuously monitor patients and vital signs throughout treatments
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition or emergency situations
  • Maintain operational, safety, and maintenance logs

Patient & Family Education

  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, home care, and treatment compliance
  • Provide instruction on HBOT procedures, safety expectations, and post-treatment care
  • Promote patient engagement, adherence, and healing outcomes

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document wound care and HBOT services in the electronic medical record
  • Ensure compliance with AAAHC, CMS, OSHA, CDC, NFPA, and facility policies
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and accreditation readiness activities
  • Support incident reporting, audits, and regulatory reviews

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurse practitioners, technicians, and clinical teams
  • Communicate clearly regarding patient status, care plans, and clinical concerns
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and clinical initiatives

Clinical Operations & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment
  • Ensure proper storage and use of wound care supplies, medications, and equipment
  • Perform equipment checks and quality assurance activities
  • Support infection control, environment of care, and safety programs

Multi-Site Coverage

  • Provide clinical coverage at multiple MVS Woundcare & Hyperbarics locations
  • Support new clinic launches, staffing needs, and patient access initiatives
  • Maintain consistent clinical standards across all sites

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Maryland or Compact State)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Wound care or outpatient clinical experience preferred
  • Hyperbaric experience preferred; training provided for qualified candidates
  • Wound care certification (WCC, CWCN, or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Hyperbaric certification (CHRN) or willingness to obtain within 12 months
  • Current BLS required; ACLS required
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and patient education skills
  • Proficiency with EMR systems (Athena preferred)
  • Ability and willingness to travel between clinic locations

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of hands
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in confined chamber environments
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Visual acuity for wound assessment, documentation, and photography
